Location: Portland, OR Salary: $80,000 - $90,000

Overview: We aim to hire a skilled scientist with a track record of successfully working at the edge of human knowledge, research, and product development. They will be trained in Caravel’s new platform methods at the intersection of synthetic microbiology, cell-free systems, and microfluidics for biomolecular engineering. Subsequently, they will be independently responsible for their own day-to-day research and goal setting, balancing the experimental workflows of two to three research programs at a time.

Relevant Scientific Skill Sets: Biomolecular Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Protein Purification & Analysis, Analytical Chemistry.

Highly Desirable Skill Sets: Experience with Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting, recombinant DNA techniques in bacteria.

Essential Skill Sets: Communication, organization, electronic laboratory notebook keeping.

Qualifications:

A master’s degree with thesis research and 2+ years industry experience.

A PhD in a relevant topic
